ELSEWHERE

Some mornings begin elsewhere.

She never imagined she’d be sitting here.
It has been a long time
Coming. She had hoped to avoid it.
But here she was.

A lonely park bench
She sat staring into the dawn light.
He mind raced as she contemplated how she arrived at this spot in the moment
How she allowed things to unravel so fast.
What people must think of her.
Dressed for work, carrying bags and a suitcase.

The dew from the bench had penetrated her pants. That was inevitable .

He said it was her fault.
He said she was to blame.
She had no recollection of the words or the conversation.
Only that pain she intended on inflicting.
She imagined it embeded her laura and expanded like a nuclear explosion.
But she never thought it would land her here.

On a bench.

At dawn.
