Hope

Not every tomorrow arrives

She picked up the crystal vase

and threw it at her target.

She didn't wait to see it break.

She stormed out of the room

and slammed the door.

She slid down the wall

into the corner.

Knees pulled to her chest.

She waited.

"It'll pass," they said.

"Have hope," they encouraged.

She waited.

Only the darkness kept its promise.
